The Emerging Scholars Program promotes the academic success of students from the Cleveland area who enroll at CWRU. Brittany Raab ’19, a sociology major and Emerging Scholar, was awarded a 2016-2017 Welter-Muzic Undergraduate Research Fellowship in Child Studies for her project “The Role of Neighborhood Cohesion in the Likelihood of Intervening in Suspected Child Maltreatment.” Raab intends to present her research at the American Sociological Association annual meeting in 2017.

Dick Garwin (CIT ’47, HON ’16) was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama. Garwin was recognized for his contributions to defense and intelligence technologies throughout a decades-long research career. Read more.
