A successful Homecoming and Reunion Weekend was had by all October 5-8. College events included a State of the College update, a brunch and parade watch, and a tailgate booth and football game cheering section. At our all-class reception and dinner, we honored the college’s 2017 Alumni Award Winners and announced the Reunion Giving Challenge Winners.

The College of Arts and Sciences annually recognizes graduates of the college and its predecessor schools (Adelbert College, Cleveland College, Flora Stone Mather College, Western Reserve College, and the math and science programs of the Case Institute of Technology) who have made exceptional contributions to their fields and to the lives of others. The Alumni Awards celebrate recipients’ achievements, honor their legacies of excellence, and encourage and inspire future alumni. The college is pleased to announce the 2017 award winners.

Congratulations to the Case Western Reserve University class of 2017! Commencement ceremonies took place May 21 and featured civil rights icon Fred Gray, LAW ’54, HON ’92, who urged the graduates, including 500+ new alumni from the College of Arts and Sciences, to use their degrees to “do the right thing.”

Ron Wilson, the Katharine Bakeless Nason Professor of Theater and director of the CWRU/CPH MFA Acting program, died on April 14 at the age of 70. Wilson served as the chair of the Department of Theater from 2000 to 2015.
