Defying the Global Language: Perspectives in Ethnic Studies (Cheryl Toman, ed.) is the first piece of research to come out of the Ethnic Studies Program. The collection of essays originated from an American Comparative Literature Association seminar held at Harvard University in 2009 led by Cheryl Toman and Gilbert Doho. Besides Toman and Doho, contributors include Theri Pickens, Anastasia Wright Turner, Julia DiLiberti, Louis Yapo, Elisabeth Lore, and Anita Baksh.
