One of the major functions of the college’s marketing and communications team is to help promote its people and programs. We share news about faculty research, publications and creative endeavors to wide audiences. We also help publicize events on campus.
News and Media Relations
We work closely with the university’s media relations team to promote news through print, broadcast and online media outlets. We help our media relations team identify compelling news and research stories, connect reporters with faculty experts, and help members of the media access photos and press releases.
- You have been contacted by a member of the media to serve as a source for a story
- You have a story idea you think news media would be interested in covering
- You have an achievement (research, scholarship, creative endeavor, career) you think the university should publicize
- Your students have an achievement you think the university should publicize
If you have news or event information you would like to share with the university community, consider submitting it to The Daily, CWRU’s weekday email newsletter. Please refer to their editorial guidelines. Include all required information, including contact name, email and phone number and the full text of your event or announcement. Send your information to them using this online form.
TVUC Electronic Media Wall
Spots can be reserved on the Tinkham Veale University Center electronic media wall through a submission to the Daily. In the second to last question, “Where would you like this to appear?”, check “The media wall in Tinkham Veale University Center.”
Electronic Information Boards
University Technology operates electronic information displays in each residence hall and in selected academic buildings across campus. Members of the campus community may upload event fliers as well as photos of the campus and community to the information boards. View the submission guidelines here.
Newsletters are a good way to stay connected with alumni and friends. Department newsletters allow you to share news and information about happenings on campus, including faculty research and publications, student awards and accomplishments and alumni updates. If you are looking to share news with alumni audiences, be sure to work with the college’s development team who can access the university’s alumni database on your behalf. Signs stake spots can be reserved on KSL Oval, Case Quad, Mather Quad or the Binary Walkway. Send an email to Karen Cohen that lists the dates you want the signs up (a typical time-frame is two weeks or less), where you want them, their size, and what they will say. You are responsible for putting the signs up and taking them down. If you wish for the Grounds Department to place your signs, there will be a labor charge. Note: too many signs looks cluttered.
College of Arts and Sciences Events Calendar
To list an event in the College of Arts and Sciences events calendar, create an event in your department Google Calendar with the following information and invite firstname.lastname@example.org. (If your department needs to create a calendar, please see your department contact for changes to the department website.)

- Speaker(s) or panelists with titles and organizations
- Cost to attend
