CWRU launches new pre-med certificate program

PRIME Program

CWRU has launched PRIME (the Post-baccalaureate Readiness Instruction for bioMedical Education Program), a new program for pre-med students looking to bolster their candidacy for medical school.

PRIME is a highly flexible joint program of the School of Medicine and College of Arts and Sciences tailored to provide each student the preparation they need to create the best MD or DO application.

The program can be completed in one or two years, depending on the individual student’s needs and is geared toward two types of students:

  • Career changers – students who have not yet completed all their pre-med requirements
  • Academic enhancers – students who need to improve their undergraduate GPA and their foundation in key pre-med content

PRIME provides students with clinically-based learning experiences designed to give students exposure to medical terminology and clinical reasoning and develop growth via self-reflection. The program also includes specialized Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) preparatory courses designed to comprehensively review all MCAT content areas, and a dedicated program director who has experience advising for medical school admissions and who meets regularly with students one-on-one.
