ARTH 280: Modern Art and Modern Science

An examination of the development of painting, sculpture, and architecture from the late 19th to the late 20th century. Special attention is given to the emergence of "modernism" and the influence of science on such movements as Impressionism, Cubism, Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism as well as Pop art and Minimalism. This course will meet at the Cleveland Museum of Art on Wednesdays.
