Kelvin Smith Library holds a collection of films on DVD<\/a>. The library\u00a0also makes available to\u00a0the CWRU community a service, Kanopy<\/a>, that offers a wealth of streaming film choices. Inside the library is the\u00a0Freedman Center<\/a>, where students can explore a\u00a0range\u00a0of possibilities for shooting and editing video, converting video from one format to another, and much more. Last, the library maintains a page describing\u00a0res<\/a>earch tools for film studies<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0CWRU Film Society<\/a>\u00a0regularly screens recent popular cinema and other kinds of films as well.<\/p>\n

Studio 300<\/a> is a University Media Board organization that exists to foster responsible expression through video ideation, creation, production, distribution, and consulting for Case Western Reserve University.<\/p>\n

Film-related events Case Western has hosted include a visit from\u00a0Groundhog Day<\/em>\u00a0screenwriter\u00a0Danny Rubin<\/a>, a Skype conversation with film director\/writer\/actor Patrick Brice and film editor Christopher Donlan, an evening of Buster Keaton short films with live piano accompaniment<\/a>, and\u00a0Baker-Nord Center<\/a>\u00a0film series\u00a0and lectures.<\/p>\n

In the Area<\/h3>\n

Steps from campus, the\u00a0Cleveland Cinematheque<\/a>, in the Uptown District, offers an outstanding year-round program of films.<\/p>\n

Area movie theaters, including the\u00a0Cedar Lee<\/a>, screen a variety of mainstream and other kinds of films.<\/p>\n

Film Festivals<\/h3>\n

Every spring, films from around the world screen at the\u00a0Cleveland International Film Festival<\/a>. Other annual festivals include the\u00a0Ohio Independent Film Festival<\/a>,\u00a0the Short Sweet Film Fest,<\/a>\u00a0the FilmDayton Film Festival<\/a>, the ReelAbilities Film Festival<\/a>, the Cleveland Jewish FilmFest<\/a>, and the Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n
