Although it still might not be quite clear. Four years ago the media outlets didn\u2019t call the election until the Saturday after. This year could easily be as uncertain.<\/p>\n<p><strong>But even if it\u2019s uncertain we will know a lot more about the endpoint, and patterns of voting, and possible explanations, and reactions to the results.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Though I\u2019ll be shocked if the House is obvious, given how long it takes to count votes in California.<\/p>\n<p>So I will consult over the week with friends and data sets and try to explain what happened, or what\u2019s going on.  We will be joined in person and over zoom by a few other scholars. And we\u2019ll try to figure out, together, what the country will be like next year.<\/p>\n<p>Best wishes for safety and security for you and yours,<\/p>\n<p>    Joe White<br \/>\n    Luxenberg Family Professor of Public Policy and Director, Center for Policy Studies<\/font>\n  <\/p>\n<hr width=\"100%\" style=\"padding:0px\" \/>\n<h3><font color=\"#0a304e\">About Our Guest<\/font><\/h3>\n<p><font color=\"#0a304e\"><strong>Joe White<\/strong> is organizer of the Public Affairs Discussion Group due to his position as Director of the Center for Policy Studies in CWRU\u2019s College of Arts and Sciences. He holds the Luxenberg Family Professorship in Public Policy with his primary appointment in the Department of Political Science and a secondary appointment in the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. White joined our faculty in 2000 and served as Political Science Department Chair from 2003 \u2013 2015. Before coming to CWRU he was an Associate Professor of Health Systems Management at Tulane University, and first Research Associate and then Senior Fellow in the Governmental Studies Program of the Brookings Institution. He earned his A.B. from the University of Chicago and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of California Berkeley, all in political science.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. White\u2019s research focuses especially on both U.S. federal budgeting and health care policy and politics. A lot of his health policy work compares policies across rich democracies. He has authored or co-authored three books, co-edited two, and authored or co-authored 85 articles or book chapters. These include his book with Aaron Wildavsky on budgeting during the Reagan administration, and nine other articles or chapters about presidents and budgeting.
