CWRU Model UN Volunteer Opportunity<\/a><\/u>
\nCWRUMUN (North East Ohio\u2019s top-ranked Model UN team) is looking for volunteers to chair and staff for our fall MUN conference. We are looking for those willing to engage with and mentor high school students from across North East Ohio, and those willing to learn a bit more about global issues! This commitment is 15 hours from November 17th to November 18th (with one meeting beforehand on November 16th). If you have any\u00a0questions, please contact\u00a0political\u00a0science\u00a0major\u00a0Jared Zullig<\/a>. The deadline to sign up is October 14.<\/p>\n

\nTeams of up to four compete to answer questions that test your knowledge of international affairs, current events, and foreign policy. Student tickets are $25 each.<\/p>\n

Harry S. Truman Scholarship<\/a>
\nJuniors planning to attend graduate school for careers in public service are eligible to apply for this merit-based scholarship. The application deadline is November 15.<\/p>\n

Environmental Internships<\/a>
\nThe Environmental Law & Policy Center offers several, unpaid internships each season. Some spring applications are due as early as November 15.<\/p>\n

James C. Gaither Junior Fellows Program<\/a>
\nGraduates work at the Carnegie Endowment for\u00a0International\u00a0Peace in Washington, D.C. Seniors should submit application information to Dean Wes Schaub by November 30, 2021. Juniors should meet with her to plan.<\/p>\n

CCWA Spring 2023 Internships<\/a>
\nAn internship at CCWA can offer a world of opportunities as you develop skills and complete meaningful projects that advance our mission. They are looking for a Model UN intern, Exchange intern, and Speaker Programs intern. Applications are due December 1.<\/p>\n

\nLiterature written by women in German during the period long known patriarchally as the Age of Goethe was largely lumped in with other unserious or artistically unworthy works under the category Trivialliteratur, literally “trivial literature.” Using insights from Gender Studies yet acknowledging the need for a literary canon,\u00a0Great Books by German Women<\/em>\u00a0offers a critical interpretation of six canon-worthy German novels written by women in the period, for which it coins the term “Age of Emotion.<\/p>\n

German Chancellor Fellowship<\/a>
\nDuring a\u00a0stay in Germany, Fellows pursue self-developed, research-based projects that are societally relevant and have the potential for long-term, publicly visible impact. The deadline to apply is October 15.<\/p>\n

Latin America and Europe<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n

Translating Socialism International Symposium<\/a>
\nOctober 18 – 21, Mather House 100 and KSL LL06.<\/em>
\nThis is the first major international symposium to focus solely on the literary translations made in socialist countries (both in Eastern Europe and Latin America) from 1959-1990. Many studies have been devoted to translation studies in the last few decades. Still, none has yet focused on the role played by literary translations within the socialist bloc and how the translation of literature became a political and ideological instrument to advance the formation of the socialist society. This symposium would help to rectify this situation.
\nThe symposium will honor Pavel Grushko, one of the main Russian translators who made Latin American literature accessible and known in the former Soviet Union.<\/p>\n
