The impetus for the creation of the Skeletal Research Center in 1986 came from the realization that Case Western Reserve University has among its faculty renowned leaders in various aspects of skeletal research and clinical disciplines. Currently, the organization of these individuals into an administrative unit serves to formalize the interactions which exist between its members. The creative environment provided by these interactions is unusual and provides a unique scholarly atmosphere to conduct basic research and experimentation, and to translate new research information into effective clinical protocols.
Our dream is to use the existing concentration of experts as a basis for building a world-renowned Tissue Engineering Center, which will ultimately translate our research efforts into improved health care delivery. New colleagues who join us will find a unique opportunity for scholarly and personal growth, while our patrons will provide support for one of the fastest growing medical disciplines of this new century.
