Conditions for registration, TEF certificate of results and awarding of the DFP diploma (applicable to all versions of the TEF and DFP tests)
Personal data
All personal data provided by the candidate (first name, last name, date of birth, photo, signature, test answers and test results, e-mail address, nationality and identity document number) are collected and retained by CCI Paris Ile-de-France for a period of 10 years.
If the required TEF CANADA level is obtained, the candidate’s data are made available to Canadian authorities. If the candidate objects to this transmitting of data, or if he/she modifies or deletes data, his/her application for immigration or citizenship may not be processed by Canadian authorities. Data transmitted to Canadian authorities will be processed and stored according to Canadian law.
In general, personal data are accessible by the government authorities of the countries who use the TEF as part of an immigration or citizenship program. A certificate of results is submitted by the candidate in the context of any such administrative procedure.
Verification of identity
On the day of the exam session, the candidate must show a photo ID for verification purposes. The candidate agrees
a) to be photographed by a staff member of the approved center,
b) to sign an attendance sheet,
c) to be recorded during the oral test.
In the case of TEF for Canada, the proof of identity must be the same as the photo ID presented at the time of the candidate’s registration. This photo ID will be used in the context of immigration or citizenship procedures in Canada. The photo and one of the signatures collected on the day of the test/exam will appear on the candidate’s certificate of results. Any attempt by a person to take the test in the place of a registered candidate will be considered as fraudulent and will result in the registered candidate and his/her impersonator being excluded from the test. This policy is valid for all tests.
In the event the IFSPEC needs further verification after the test/exam session, the candidate shall accept to copy a text in writing and to be recorded during an oral interview, or to pass one or more verification tests. In case of the candidate’s refusal, the CCI Paris Ile-de-France may not issue a certificate of results, and the candidate will not be refunded his/her test/exam registration fee.
Modification of marital status
When signing the attendance sheet, the candidate must check the spelling of his/her first and last name and the date of birth corresponding to his/her registration. It is imperative any error shall be corrected at that time.
If a requested change reveals the candidate has taken one of the tests within a period of 60 days or less preceding the exam session, the candidate’s certificate of results will not be issued and the candidate will not be refunded his/her registration fee.
If registration changes are not reported on the day of the exam session, the CCI Paris Ile-de-France will not be able to make any subsequent changes and the candidate will not be refunded his/her registration fee. No further correction can be made once the certificate of results has been sent.
Exam rules and instructions
Test/exam candidates must comply with the rules and instructions specified by the approved exam center, the IFSPEC. Personal items may not be used during test/exam sessions, except if a special authorization was granted by the CCI Paris Ile-de-France for candidates requiring test accommodations. Copies of a given exam may not be retained, scanned and/or shared by exam candidates. Communication with other candidates during test/exam sessions is strictly forbidden.
In case of serious misconduct (disturbance of a test/exam session, attempts to copy responses from another candidate in spite of a first warning, communication with fellow exam candidates, etc.), candidates incur immediate dismissal from the examination room.
In the event of attempted fraud or proven fraud, the suspected candidate/candidates will not receive a certification of results for the TEF or the DFP. Such candidates will not be entitled to a refund of their registration fee and will no longer be able to take the TEF or the DFP test/exams.
Test/exam results
Certifications of results are the only official TEF and DFP tests/exams results. They are issued by the CCI Paris Ile-de-France after the test/exam session. Only the results of the test/exam for which a candidate is registered are indicated on the test/exam session’s certificate of results. A certificate of results is issued only if the candidate has taken the test/exam for which he/she is registered and if no irregularities were noted during the course of the session and during the processing of responses.
A TEF Certificate of results is valid for a period of two years from the issuance date. An official Certificate of Results will be mailed to your address, per Immigration Canada’s request.
The DFP diploma is valid for life. Your results will be sent to you by your exam center. If you earned the Diploma of French for Professions, an e-Diploma will be sent to your email address.
The CCI Paris Ile-de-France may carry out verifications of test/exam session documents, which may lead to an additional delay in the release of test/exam results for some candidates. If a certificate of results is issued and the CCI Paris Ile-de-France finds there have been irregularities surrounding a test/exam session or test scoring in general, the CCI Paris Ile-de-France is authorized to refer to the competent French authorities with whom the candidate may seek to record his/her certificate of results.
Results revision provisions
Test/exam results may be verified, reevaluated, and possibly revised if:
– A candidate requests an appeal within a maximum period of 90 days from the date in which the certificate of results was issued. The appeal procedure is initiated online by the applicant on the following Website address: https://www.lefrancaisdesaffaires.fr/tests-diplomes/test-evaluation-francais-tef. Appeals incur a mandatory fee of 50 euros charged via an online payment system. Payments are processed within 4 weeks after receipt of the appeal request. If a revision of the certificate of results takes place, the fee will be reimbursed.
– A test prescriber wishes to check the validity of the test/exam results of a candidate.
– Irregularities are suspected by the IFSPEC or the CCI Paris Ile-de-France.
Test/exam results can be reevaluated by means chosen by the CCI Paris Ile-de-France. This process may require the candidate to be summoned to an approved center for a verification test. In no case shall the candidate’s results or a justification of the new scores be provided to the candidate and/or the IFSPEC.
After the test/exam results have been verified and possibly reviewed, they may be communicated to the candidate, to the IFSPEC and to the prescriber. The results issued at the end of the appeal are firm and final. They may not be re-appealed.
When scores delivered to the candidate are revised, a new certificate of results is issued to the candidate. The new certificate of results cancels the one that was initially issued. Only the new certificate can be used.
Attempted fraud
In the event that fraud, falsification or disruption of the test/exam session is noted by the test proctor, the IFSPEC or the CCI Paris Ile-de-France, sanctions will be taken by the Disciplinary Board of the CCI Paris Ile-de-France.
For the candidate, sanctions may result in a cancellation of the issued certificate of results/diploma and /or a ban on taking the test for a period determined by the Disciplinary Board.
The decision of the Disciplinary Board is communicated to the candidate, to the IFSPEC and to the exam prescriber.
