About
Professor Inouye is the movement and stage combat specialist for the Case Western Reserve University programs, and also teaches acting classes and SAGES seminars. He is a certified teacher and theatrical firearms instructor with the Society of American Fight Directors, a certified teacher with the National Michael Chekhov Association, Margolis Method Certified Educator (Level I), Assistant Faculty with Theatrical Intimacy Education, and a freelance actor, award-winning fight choreographer, and a stunt performer. Prior to joining CWRU he filled a similar role for the BFA program at the University of Wyoming, and has also taught for Virginia Commonwealth University, Christopher Newport University, and the College of William & Mary, as well as conferences and workshops across North America.
Professional work has included both screen work and live theatre, with local work seen at Cleveland Play House, Karamu House, Dobama, Cleveland Public Theater, and more. He is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA , as well as the Association of Theatre Movement Educators (ATME), the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (Associate), and the International Order of the Sword & Pen, with whom he is a member of the Artistic Advisory Committee. Academically his work is known through publications including The Screen Combat Handbook (Routledge, 2020), The Theatrical Firearms Handbook (Focal Press, 2014), articles for The Fight Master, and a chapter in Physical Dramaturgy (2018).
