About
Mairin Augustine is an Instructor in Psychology as well as the primary pre-major advisor for Psychological Sciences. She enjoys working with the talented students at CWRU and supporting undergraduate education through teaching and advising.
Dr. Augustine is a northeast Ohio native, and earned a BS and MS in Psychology from Lehigh University and a PhD in Human Development and Family Studies from Pennsylvania State University. Before coming to CWRU she completed a Carolina Consortium on Human Development postdoctoral fellowship through the Center for Developmental Science at UNC Chapel Hill and UNC Greensboro, and was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Hamilton College.
Her expertise is in developmental and family psychology, with a focus on the role of temperament and parenting in children’s social, emotional, and self-regulatory development. Specifically, she studies how parenting behaviors relate to child outcomes differently based on situational factors, child temperament, and other individual differences. She is also interested in exploring how parents’ personality and cognitions predict patterns of parenting behavior.
