Lacey Caporale defended her qualitative dissertation on gentrification in the Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood and graduated with her PhD in Sociology this past May. Her dissertation, “Displaced and Situated in Place: A Critical Study of Relational Space in a Gentrifying Neighborhood,” and her research in inequality, gentrification and criminal justice inspired her op-ed piece recently published in The Land, a local, nonprofit reporting organization for Cleveland’s neighborhoods.
