International Studies Career Workshop

Mark your calendars to attend this workshop, where International Studies alumni speakers will share advice about summer internships, first jobs, and careers.  Co-sponsored by Sigma Iota Rho, the international studies honor society chapter.

One World Day

Cleveland Cultural Gardens will be celebrating different nations with performances, food, and other activities. This event is free.

Infusing Human Rights into Peace Negotiations
August 28, 12:00-1:00p.m., CWRU School of Law
International peace negotiator Dr. Paul R. Williams will share his knowledge and experience. This event is free.

Africa

Ámà: The Gathering Place
August 2, 2019 – December 1, 2019, Cleveland Museum of Art
A multisensory installation from artist Emeka Ogboh that recreates the feel of a southeast Nigerian village square. This is a free exhibition.

Emeka Ogboh: Akwétè
August 2, 2019 – December 1, 2019, Cleveland Museum of Art
This video depicts the production of West African akwétè cloths. This is a free event.

Ethiopian Cultural Garden Dedication
August 24, 1:00-3:00p.m., Cleveland Cultural Gardens
Join Mayor Jackson in the dedication of the Ethiopian Cultural Garden, the first garden from an African nation. This event is free to the public.

Europe

In The Aisles

This German film features a couple who fall in love while working in a store. Tickets are $7 for age 25 and under.

The Dybbuk
August 25, 3:45p.m., Cinematheque
In this 1939 Yiddish-language film a young Jewish bride becomes possessed by her deceased true love. Tickets are $8 for age 25 and under

Cleveland Heights Greek Festival
August 22-25, St. Helen and Constantine
This festival features Greek food, artwork, music, and dance. This event is free to attend.

Ukrainian Parade & Festival
August 24, 11:00-12:00p.m., Ukrainian Village in Parma, Ohio
The 10th annual Ukrainian Independence Day parade will be followed by a festival in Ukrainian Heritage Park. This is a free event.

2019 PierogiFest
August 24-25, Holy Trinity Church
Celebrating the 8th annual festival featuring Ukrainian food, music, and entertainment. Admission and parking are free.
