You do not need to RSVP if you signed up during the career workshop.

Fall Advising Meetings

Please schedule your fall advising meeting with Professor McMann here.  Students who are off-campus should request a Skype meeting, using the same link.  Be sure your calendar is set to Eastern Time.

World Pasta Day Event

Attendees are invited to try pasta dishes from around the world.

Cleveland Council on World Affairs Spring Internships
Applications for Spring 2020 are due December 6, 2019.

Truman Scholarship
Interested juniors should submit preliminary applications to Dean Amanda McCarthy by November 15, 2019.

Projects for Peace
Propose a project to promote peace anywhere in the world.  Multiple International Studies majors have won this grant.  Application deadline is December 15, 2019.

Europe

Pints and Pierogies in the Park
October 18, 7-10pm, Watershed Stewardship Center
Admission is $30 and includes 6 pierogies, 1 piece of kielbasa, and beer from Great Lakes Brewing Company.

Fleet Avenue Kielbasa Cookout
October 19, 5-10pm, 5708 Fleet Ave.
This event has Slavic foods and music. Free to attend.

Cleveland Saxon Dance Group Annual Traubenfest
October 19, 6-11pm, 7001 Denison Ave
This event includes a pork roast dinner, German dancing, and music. Tickets are $20.

Latin America

Flamenco Intro Class
October 17, 2:30-3:45pm, Mather Dance Center
This class will cover the history and evolution of this dance form.

Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute
Applications for Spring 2020 are due October 21, 2019.  Projects include those on foreign affairs.

Amigos de las Américas
Spend 4-8 weeks volunteering in Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Panama, or Peru.  Numerous International Studies majors have found this program worthwhile. Summer 2020 priority applications are due November 4, 2019.

Middle East

The Israel Lobby in the U.S.
October 17, 5-6:30pm, TVUC Senior Classroom
This talk and Q&A session with University of Akron History Professor Walter Hixson will examine the development of the Israel lobby in the United States.

Voices from Pakistan
October 23, 4-5pm, KSL Dampeer Room
Speaker Milka Hanook will present about Pakistan, her hometown, and culture. Register online.
