Call for Honor Society Officers
Serve as President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer or (sophomore) Adjunct Liaison of the CWRU chapter of Sigma Iota Rho, the International Studies Honor Society, in the upcoming academic year. To be considered, initiated members should email a letter describing their qualifications to current secretary Aubri Swank, aubri.swank@case.edu, by April 1.

Are you living alone in Cleveland during the pandemic?  If so, please email Professor McMann so that she can be an additional point of (virtual) local contact.

Spring advising meetings are optional. If you would like to schedule a meeting with Professor McMann, you can do so here.  Be sure your calendar is set to Eastern Time.  Meetings will be by Skype unless informed otherwise.

Latin America Digest Internship
This periodical offers remote summer writing internships.  Applications are due April 17.

Democracy Journal Internship
The Democracy: A Journal of Ideas offers Washington, DC-based internships in writing and editing and covers foreign topics. Applications for summer are due April 30.

International Security Positions
Deadlines for international security positions beginning summer 2021 can be as early as this spring due to security clearance requirements.  If you are interested in such positions, begin to monitor usajobs.gov and U.S. federal agency web sites regularly now.

Foundation for the Defense of Democracies Internships
Applications are currently being accepted for numerous internships at this Washington, DC think tank.

Summer Funding Opportunities
CWRU’s Baker-Nord Center offers three different grant competitions for summer funding.  Applications are due April 15, 2020.

Like Water for Chocolate
Set in Mexico, this novel tells the story of a young woman who is forbidden to marry but falls in love.  Recommended by Fatima Rahman ’21.

Fauda
This Israeli Netflix series, in Arabic and Hebrew with English subtitles, follows the experiences of officers in the Israeli Defense Forces.  Recommended by Liz Hanna ’20.
