Sigma Iota Rho Meet & Greet and Information Session
October 29, 7:30p.m., Virtual
Current members of Sigma Iota Rho, the international studies honor society, and those who are interested in joining are encouraged to attend to learn more about SIR and to catch up with other International Studies majors. RSVP here.

Volunteers Needed for Study Abroad Fair
Friday, November 13, 1-3 pm, Virtual
International Studies will have a virtual booth at this fair because many students who attend are interested in the major.  Please help host the booth and speak to prospective majors.  RSVP here.

Max Kampelman Fellowship Program 
Fellows work directly with Congressional offices, executive branch officials, and foreign diplomats on foreign policy issues. Fellowships are offered in communications and policy. Spring applications are due November 1, 2020.

Fund for Peace Internships
Gain practical experience in the international relations field and exposure to international and NGO communities.  Internships are offered each semester. Spring applications are due November 15, 2020.

American Foreign Policy Council 
The AFPC internship is an unpaid research opportunity where students will interact closely with foreign policy professionals and assist in the publication of articles. Spring applications are due November 15, 2020.

International Economic Development Council 
Intern with the IEDC in the areas of economic development, public policy, member services, and communications and marketing. Spring applications are due November 15, 2020.

Brookings Institution Internships 
Undergraduates and recent graduates conduct research with Brookings’s staff in the areas of international development and foreign policy, among others. Spring applications are due November 22, 2020.

Women’s Foreign Policy Group
Student interns are introduced to various aspects of foreign policy in Washington D.C. A stipend is provided at the end of the internship period. Spring applications are due November 25, 2020.

Library of Congress Junior Fellows Summer Internship Program 
In this paid internship undergraduates assist with analog and digital collections, including foreign materials. Spring applications open and close in November.

Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Internships 
Undergraduates and recent graduates gain experience with national policy development and implementation, some of which is international focused, in this internship program. Spring applications are due November 27, 2020.

Environmental Internships
The Environmental Law & Policy Center offers several, unpaid policy and science internships for undergraduates each season. Spring applications are due November 30.

USAID Legislative and Public Affairs Internship
Interns are involved in the liaison process between USAID and the media, Congress, and other entities. Applications for the summer term open on November 1, 2020. The deadline to apply is December 15, 2020.

Foundation for the Defense of Democracies
The FDD offers a variety of unpaid internships to undergraduates. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

U.S Department of State Recent Graduates Program
Recent graduates have the opportunity to work at the State Department, with the potential to be hired permanently afterwards. Check www.usajobs.gov for job postings.

U.S. Department of State Language Programs

Africa

USAID Bureau for Africa Summer Internship
The Bureau for Africa internships focus on improving health services, supporting businesses, and strengthening communities in Africa. The deadline to apply for summer is December 15, 2020.

Entrepreneurship in Africa

Indian Education Fundraiser
Buy Indian desserts and snacks from the Undergraduate Indian Student Association in support of Pratham USA, an organization that supports education of underprivileged children in India.

Europe

Congress-Bundestag Young Professionals Exchange
Spend one year in Germany studying, interning, and living with a host family on this funded fellowship. Application deadline November 7, 2020.

La Strada
Online screening begins October 30, Cinematheque
This Oscar award-winning Federico Fellini film explores the relationship between a circus strongman and his assistant during their travels through rural Italy. Screening fees are $12.

Latin America

Center for Democracy in the Americas Internship 
Assist the CDA with building constructive relations between the U.S. and countries of the Americas. Applications for the spring semester close November 15, 2020.

Middle East

Expo 2020 Dubai
The U.S. Department of State is seeking Youth Ambassadors at Expo 2020 Dubai. Applications will be accepted until spots are filled.
