Congratulations to numerous INTL majors for their impressive achievements!

Anna Sklenar was awarded a Fulbright to examine the influence of nostalgia for the Soviet era on populism in Russia today.  She will conduct interviews in Ekaterinburg, Russia in 2019-2020 as part of her research.

Mariam GardeziHanna Paris, and Aubri Swank won Humanities@Work Scholarships to intern this summer with a public health program in Nairobi, a refugee and immigration assistance effort in Maine, and a law firm in Rome, respectively.

Maria DeRenzo presented her INTL 399 and SOURCE grant project The Efficacy of Short-term Medical Missions at Intersections Friday.  Congratulations also to Jacqueline Kett and Viviane Finke for presenting projects from their other majors.

A Career in International Research
April 26, 11:30am-1:30pm, Flora Stone Mather Center for Women
Dr. Sandra W. Jacobson of Wayne State University will discuss the challenges faced as an international investigator. RSVP by April 19.

International Security Positions
Deadlines for international security positions beginning summer 2020 can be as early as this spring due to security clearance requirements.  If you are interested in such positions, begin to monitor usajobs.gov and U.S. federal agency web sites regularly now.

Shinto Art Exhibit

Don’t Look Now

A couple meets a psychic in Venice who claims to be in touch with their dead child. Tickets are $7 for age 25 and under.

Cleveland Polish Constitution Day Parade
April 28, 11am, Slavic Village
This event includes a Polish Catholic mass, lunch, parade, and a cultural program.

The Legacy of Bruno Schulz
May 2, 7pm, Suburban Temple Kol Ami
Author Agata Tuszynska will discuss Polish Jewish author Bruno Schulz, who was murdered by the Nazis. Nonmember tickets are $5.

Verdi’s Requiem
May 2, 8-10pm, Maltz Performing Arts Center
This concert commemorates the victims of the Holocaust. Reserve free tickets online.

Family History of Fear and Secrets
May 3, 10-11:30am, Landmark Centre Building
Polish Jewish author and journalist Agata Tuszynska will recount her family’s history during WWII. Nonmember tickets are $5.

Forced Into Genocide

Adrienne G. Alexanian will discuss her father’s experience, as a conscript in the Turkish army, in the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey. General admission is $10.
