June 30 INTL Studies Director Transition
Director Kelly McMann announced in a September 30 email to each major that she will step down June 30, 2022 and described the plans for selecting a new director.  Read the email here.

U.S. Department of State Internships
Applications for 2022 summer internships accepted through October 18. Internship assignments are both domestic and abroad.  Juniors focusing on international security and diplomacy should apply for post abroad for their INTL practicum.

Think Tank Research Internship
Collect data and write reports on social policy think tanks worldwide this semester with a University of Pennsylvania research team. Interested applicants should contact the TTCSP Intern Coordinator (ttcsp.interncoordinator@gmail.com) and cc project leads (keo35@case.edu,

Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship
The Scoville Peace Fellowship offers recent graduates the opportunity to work full-time with non-profit and public-interest organizations. Applications close October 18, 2021 for the Spring 2022 semester.

U.S. Department of Treasury Fellowship
In this two-year program, fellows will work in the U.S. Treasury’s Office of International Affairs. Applications are due October 29, 2021.

PPIA Junior Summer Institute
This program prepares juniors seeking careers in public service for graduate school. Applications are due November 1, 2021.

Truman Scholarship
Interested juniors should submit preliminary applications for this public affairs graduate school scholarship to Dean Amanda McCarthy by November 15, 2021.

Critical Language Scholarship Program
Summer 2022 CLS applications are now available. The application deadline is November 16, 2021.

James C. Gaither Junior Fellows Program
Graduates work at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, D.C. Seniors should submit application information to Dean Amanda McCarthy by November 30, 2021. Juniors should meet with her to plan.

Projects for Peace
Propose a project to promote peace, broadly defined, anywhere in the world. Multiple International Studies majors have won this grant. It can be used as the INTL practicum. Intent to apply deadline is December 1, 2021.

The United Nations in a Changing World

Join United Nations Secretary-General Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric for a discussion on how the UN can address global challenges. Student tickets are $5. Register in advance.

Graduate Program Open Houses

Asia
Japan Exchange and Teaching Program
Teach English in Japan after college through the JET Program.  Numerous International Studies alumni have secured positions in this competitive program. The 2022 program application deadline is November 12, 2021.

Blakemore Freeman Fellowships
Fellows undertake language study in Asia for an academic year. Applications are due December 31, 2021.

Xiao Wu (The Pickpocket)

Germany’s New Government

Latin Americanist Conference
Submit a paper proposal to the Ohio Latin Americanist Conference, held February 25-26, 2022. Proposals are due December 10.
