Deepak Sarma to present lecture on the public humanities

Deepak Sarma, a 2023 Distinguished Scholar in the Public Humanities, will deliver their distinguished scholar lecture called, “Is There an Ordinary State of Consciousness?,” at Tinkham Veale University Center, Ballroom A, on Wednesday, Dec. 6, from 5-7 p.m.

Sarma was recognized for their many contributions to  public humanities. They serve as a cultural consultant to American Greetings, Netflix and Moonbug Entertainment—a global company that produces programming for children. Sarma helps these corporations avoid perpetuating religious, colonial and gender stereotypes. 

Recently, Deepak has explored ethical and philosophical questions surrounding the use of psychedelic drugs. This research has led them to the topic of their lecture.
