Q: Why did you choose this area of study?
A: I think speech language pathology is the perfect balance of a lot of things I enjoy: functionality, science, evidence-based practice, advocacy, face-to-face interactions, and language. And with so many niches to explore, I think I’ll feel motivated and curious for a very long time in the field.
Q: What are you plans after graduation?
A: I plan to travel over the summer and then obtain a Masters in Speech-Language Pathology. I’m currently waiting to hear back from graduate school programs and will be deciding on a program soon!
Q: Why did you choose CWRU?
A: I went to a really crowded, competitive high school in the Bay Area, where there was basically no administrative support for the students. I liked that CWRU tries to care of students in an individualized way. For example, I remember talking to my first-year navigator Dorien Langezaal a ton during my freshman and sophomore year.
Q: What is your favorite memory of CWRU?
A: I think when I’m older, I will look back on the Communication Sciences department very fondly. It was such a tight knit, supportive community that gave me so many cool opportunities like doing research with Dr. Mulheren and collaborating with Dr. Calandruccio on diversity programming. Also made a lot of awesome friends in the department and I’m excited to see where we all end up.
Q: What is the one thing you’d like to share with incoming students?
A: I would say to take advantage of every free resource and connection that the school has to offer (i.e. navigators, Writing Center, faculty, hospital connections, Counseling Services, etc.). You don’t have to do anything alone, collaboration is always better!
