WGST welcomes Lilas Al Dakr, a Jordanian Fulbright scholar, to our program. Dr. Al Dakr earned her Bachelor’s of Arts in English literature in Jordan before traveling to France to continue her education for over 10 years in the fields of English literature, translation, and French language and literature. She obtained her PhD from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis in French comparative literature with a focus on women’s studies. Her experience spans over 20 years in French language education. She has also singlehandedly founded and managed two successful modern languages departments at two leading universities in Jordan while also teaching French language and literature to a variety of student levels. She has research interests in multilingualism, French literature, and gender studies. Dr. Al Dakr teaches WGST 337: Women in the Arab World in Fall 2019 and will remain at CWRU in spring to conduct research.
