Eva Kahana, Distinguished University Professor and the Pierce T. and Elizabeth D. Robson Professor of the Humanities, recently announced the inaugural issue of the Journal of Elder Policy (JEP). The journal presents cutting-edge scholarship in the field of aging and the social sciences and offers guidelines for practice and policy benefiting and protecting older adults.
Alanna E. Cooper, the Abba Hillel Silver Chair of Jewish Studies in the Department of Religious Studies, is among the 2020-21 Freedman Faculty Fellows. The fellowship aids in integrating digital tools and technology into their work across multiple disciplines to support learning and advance scholastic discoveries.
Case Western Reserve University will offer a new bachelor of science degree in neuroscience beginning fall semester 2020. Developed jointly by the Department of Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Neurosciences in the School of Medicine, the undergraduate program is highly collaborative and multidisciplinary.
Maggie Popkin, Robson Junior Professor and associate professor in the Department of Art History and Art, has won a 2020–21 Rome Prize. These highly competitive fellowships support advanced independent work and research in the arts and humanities. Popkin is the first faculty member from Case Western Reserve University to win the Rome Prize.
Gabrielle (Brie) Parkin, a lecturer in the Department of English and interim director of the Writing Resource Center, received this year’s Richard A. Bloom, M.D. Award for Distinguished Teaching in the SAGES Program. The award was established in 2008 by alumnus Richard Bloom (WRC ’74, MED ’79).
