The college has received a $2 million gift from the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Foundation to establish a new major in experimental humanities, and provide funding support for humanities research projects.
After 17 years as art|sci magazine’s editor, Arthur Evenchik stepped down last summer to devote more time to communications projects for Dean Joy K. Ward and to his duties as coordinator of the Emerging Scholars Program. His successor, Sandy Livingston, has been editor of the university’s flagship publication, Think magazine, since 2014. Eight sociology students participating in capstone projects took to the podium on Dec. 12 at Mather Memorial to present research on a range of topics covering diversity, equity and social justice.
In addition to the Ukrainian flags placed around Case Western Reserve University and the campus buildings lit up with yellow and blue lights, students in David King’s painting class took artistic action, painting the Ukrainian flag on a mural wall outside of the art studio.
