In 2007, Carlos E. Crespo-Hernández, associate dean for research and professor in the Department of Chemistry, moved from Puerto Rico to Cleveland to pursue the role of assistant professor of chemistry at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU).
Last month, American Speech–Language–Hearing Association (ASHA) President Lynn Williams surprised the Department of Psychological Science’s National Student Speech-Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) undergraduate students during their Multicultural ASHA Caucus.
The Office for Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity recognized the Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences Department with the “Department Diversity Excellence Award” during the annual Diversity Achievement Awards on May 5, highlighting them for the many collaborations and initiatives they led in the last year.
This year, four alumni and students from or in the Department of Physics received the prestigious NSF Graduate Fellowship.
“Having four NSF Graduate Fellowships associated with CWRU physics in one year reflects very positively on our department, our undergraduate and graduate academic programs, and on the many mentors and research supervisors who have guided these students while here at CWRU,” Glenn Starkman, co-chair of the department said. “But most of all, it reflects the extraordinary quality and dedication of our students—not just those who were awarded this very competitive fellowship but all who did the hard work to apply.”
