Developing Your Professional Network

Save the date for this International Studies workshop.  Develop your professional network, using LinkedIn and other tools, to secure internships, jobs, and a career path from your International Studies major.

First Week Advising
If you would like to meet with Professor McMann the first week of school, sign up for an appointment here. She will not hold her regular office hours that week.

Office Hours
Director Kelly McMann’s office hours will be 11:00am to 12:00pm on Thursdays and by appointment this semester.

Study Abroad Newsletter
Don’t miss out on information about studying abroad and funding for study abroad. If you are not already receiving the e-newsletter of the Education Abroad Office and are not graduating, we will sign you up. Contact Brook Sabin if you do not want to be subscribed.

SOURCE AHSS
Apply for a SOURCE-AHSS grant for up to $3500 toward a 10-week summer internship, research experience, or creative endeavor. The application is due March 6, 2020.

Global Health Corps Fellowships
This organization offers paid fellowships at health organizations in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, the United States, and Zambia. Applications are due January 15, 2020.

Samuel Huntington Public Service Award
Graduating college seniors can apply for a $15,000 stipend to pursue a year of public service anywhere in the world. Application is due January 17, 2020.

Cleveland Foundation Summer Internship Program
College juniors and seniors are eligible to apply for this 11-week paid internship with Cleveland-area nonprofit and public sector organizations, including some with an international focus. Apply by January 13, 2020.

Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Public Policy Fellowship
The is a paid opportunity in D.C. for Latino students who recently graduated from college to enter a career in public policy, including foreign policy. 2020-2021 fellowship applications are due January 30, 2020.

Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program
This six-week program offers students a greater understanding of careers in international affairs. Applications are due February 4, 2020.

United Nations Foundation Internships
Applications for full-time and part-time internships are being accepted. Summer internship applications are accepted until March. Check online for the current open positions.

Sigma Iota Rho Online Submissions
SIR is seeking bloggers, op-ed articles, and research articles for its online platform. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis.

Africa

Global Health Corps
Paid fellowships with health organizations in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, and Zambia are available. 2020-2021 applications are due January 15, 2020.

Asia

Japanese Language Speech Contest
Showcase your Japanese language skills while competing for a scholarship and other prizes. Applications are due February 7, 2020; the competition will take place in Dublin, OH March 14, 2020.

Europe

Teaching Assistant Program in France
Spend seven months teaching English to French students of all ages. The application deadline for the 2020-21 school year is January 15, 2020.

Teach English in Poland
Students are invited to apply for this 3-week summer cultural exchange program. Applications are due February 1, 2020.

FU-BEST Summer Internship
FU-BEST offers internship that allow students to work in Germany.  Applications close February 19, 2020.
