Job-Hunting During the Recession

Max Kampelman Fellowship Program 
Fellows work directly with Congressional offices, executive branch officials, and foreign diplomats on foreign policy issues. Fellowships are offered in communications and policy. Applications are currently being accepted on a rolling basis.

Global Ethical Leaders Society
Students in all areas of study are invited to apply and attend weekly discussions on ethics and world events as part of this CWRU student group. Applications are due February 20, 2021. Contact VP of Membership Annie Du with questions.

CCWA Young Professionals Advisory Committee
Apply for the Cleveland Council on World Affairs inaugural Young Professionals Advisory Committee to help plan young professional events and serve as a community ambassador for CCWA. Applications are due February 26, 2021.

American Enterprise Institute Summer Program
Intern at this Washington DC think tank, which examines foreign and defense policy, among other topics. The summer application deadline is March 1, 2021.

Carter Center Summer Internships 
These internships provide students with unpaid opportunities to explore careers in the fields of peace, health, or non-profit operations in Atlanta. Internships are also offered in the fall and spring. Applications close March 1, 2021.

SOURCE Funding
Fund your summer unpaid internship or research project with a SOURCE grant. Applications are due March 6, 2021. See these general tips about applying for grants. Many INTL majors have won these grants.

International Economic Development Council
IEDC offers internships on economic development as well as other topics. Summer 2020 applications close March 15, 2021.

USAID LPA Internship
The U.S. Agency for International Development’s Bureau for Legislative and Public Affairs serves as the liaison between the agency and Congress, media, and other key constituencies. This internship provides a broad overview of the functions of all of USAID’s bureaus. Applications close March 15, 2021.

Fund for Peace Internships
The FFP offers internships at its DC office in conflict analysis, peace building, security and human rights. Applications for Summer 2020 are due March 15, 2021.

Women’s Foreign Policy Group Internship
This internship in Washington, DC introduces interns to aspects of foreign policy.  Summer 2020 applications are due March 25, 2021.

Cleveland Council on World Affairs Summer Internship
The CCWA is currently accepting internship applications for summer 2021. Applications are due March 26, 2021.

The Carter Center China Internships
Internships focused on China are available. Summer 2021 applications are due March 1, 2021.

Latin America
Internships in Nicaragua
In-person and virtual interns at Friends of the ATC (Rural Workers’ Association) in Nicaragua do research and advocacy work for Latin American farmers. Applications for summer 2021 are accepted on a rolling basis. Contact INTL major Jordan Deskins with any questions.

Middle East
Israel Learning Fellowship
ILF at Cleveland Hillel is an online series intended to create meaningful open discussions on topics about Israel. Applications for the spring semester are due February 14, 2021.

National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations Internship
This program offers students a ten-week summer internship in the nation’s capital. The application deadline is February 26, 2021.
