U.S Department of State Pathways Programs
The Pathways program provides students with the opportunity to explore careers within the State Department, while earning a wage and continuing their studies. Check www.usajobs.gov for job postings.

U.S Department of State Recent Graduates Program
The Recent Graduates program provides students who have graduated the opportunity to work within the State Department, with the potential to be hired permanently after the program. Check www.usajobs.gov for job postings.

The Refugee Response

Volunteer tutors are needed to assist high school refugee students after school. Tutors should have a solid grasp of academic subjects, and are available to tutor from 3 to 4:45 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and/or Friday. AIF William J. Clinton Fellowship for Service in India
Graduating seniors are eligible to apply for this 10-month professional development fellowship about poverty reduction.  Applications should be submitted by January 20, 2020.

Throne of Blood

This film transposes Shakespeare’s Macbeth to civil-war-torn medieval Japan. Tickets are $9 for age 25 and under.

Music of South India
October 27, 3-4:30pm, Maltz Performing Arts Center
This performance is rooted in the rich tradition of South Indian classical music, also known as Carnatic music. Tickets are free but required.

Kashmir

Professor Ather Zia will give a talk titled “Kashmir: A Postcolonial Wound that Refuses to Heal.”

 

Europe

Brexit

Luke Reader, a scholar of British politics and especially British party politics, will discuss whatever the situation will be less than a week before the Brexit deadline.

Collegium Musicum: Dufay in Italy
October 27, 7:30-9:30pm, Harkness Chapel
This program contains celebratory songs, cantilena settings and isorhythmic motets from Dufay’s Italian sojourns. Event is free and open to the public.

Metropolis
October 30, 7pm, Cinematheque
This futuristic German film follows a robot-led revolt that threatens both the wealthy and working class. Tickets are $15 for age 25 and under.

 

Latin America

Global Medical Brigades
Go to Honduras for a week in May with GMB to volunteer in mobile health clinics, shadowing physicians and dentists, and participating in a public health project led by one of the partner communities. There will be interviews to go on the brigade on October 26, and those interested can fill out this Google form.

U.S. and Mexico

This discussion will answer questions about U.S.-Mexico relations.

Culture Under Socialist Conditions

Professor Damaris Punales-Alpizar will examine literary translation as a geopolitical instrument.” Free and open to the public.

 

Middle East

Back to (Merely) Bad: The Future of U.S. Policy Towards Iran

This event will discuss recent events and the complicated history between Iran and the United States.
