Graduation Spotlight: Ingrid Gillies

Majors: Political Science and Economics

Why did you choose these areas of study?

The intersection of political science and economics provides me with two different but complementary skill sets for thinking about community. I initially came to Case Western reserve as pre-law, but through these classes I developed a passion for the intersection of research methods (economic framework) and campaigns (political science).

What are your plans after graduation?

I am working as a strategy associate at the Penta Group in Washington, D.C.

Why did you choose CWRU?

As a high school senior, I was very drawn to CWRU’s rigorous academics but collaborative environment. The students here are driven but incredibly down to earth and willing to help with anything.

What’s your favorite memory of CWRU?

Each semester of college has been full of unique experiences but one that always makes me smile is when I was Spartie during orientation week. Representing CWRU and contributing to a memorable event for the new freshman was so energizing and it felt like I was giving back to those who made my freshman year so meaningful

As a graduating senior, what’s one thing you’d like to share with incoming students?

Allow yourself to explore new interests all the way up until senior year. There are so many resources, experiences and people available to college students—so utilize them.
