Ambika Singh
Majors: Chemical Biology, Cognitive Science
Minor: Sports Medicine
Q: Why did you choose this area of study?
A: Chemical biology was a major that my advisor Dr. Rekha Srinivasan encouraged me to pursue as it focused on the aspects of chemistry and biology that I was interested in. For my cognitive science major, I have always been interested in how we cognitively process the world. Hence, this major allowed me to explore that interest and curiosity I have for learning more about the psychology of how humans function. As for my sport medicine minor, I have always loved playing/watching sports so being able to work with CWRU’s athletes was extremely exciting. This minor allowed me to gain that hands-on experience to get a feel of the speciality of sports medicine, which is a speciality of medicine I am the most excited to learn more about in medical school.
Q: What are you plans after graduation?
A: Taking a gap year before medical school.
Q: Why did you choose CWRU?
A: Being pre-medicine, I thought that CWRU provided great resources in order to explore my passion for healthcare. Additionally, being surrounded by many well-established hospitals gives students an abundance of opportunities to be more involved and gain that necessary experience to be successful in medical school.
Q: What is your favorite memory of CWRU?
A: Meeting my freshman year roommate! We met on the CWRU Class of 2022 Facebook group and we are still good friends to this day 🙂
Q: What is the one thing you’d like to share with incoming students?
A: School will always be important but always remember to take care of yourself! Prioritize your school work and extracurriculars but do not forget that self-care and taking care of your mental/emotional well-being is just as important.
