Farah Almhana
Class of 2021
Majors: Cognitive Science and Business Management (Secondary)
Minor: Chemistry
Q: Why did you choose this area of study?
A: Cognitive science is an important trans-disciplinary area of study in which I am continuously learning that I have much yet to learn. I have had the privilege of meeting and learning from my professors and classmates in a variety of subjects such as neuroscience, linguistics, and bioethics and make meaningful connections across each of them throughout my undergraduate career. I also chose to study business management because it is crucial to being an active and informed citizen. I hope to wield the combination of scientific, philosophical, and practical knowledge I have gained in my future steps as an engaged member of the community.
Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: I will be attending medical school in the fall. While I am not sure what specialty I will chose, I am looking forward to the exciting opportunities ahead.
Q: Why did you choose CWRU?
A: I chose to attend CWRU because of the abundant opportunities to learn both in and about my hometown of Cleveland. Growing alongside the communities where I volunteer has been one of the most memorable parts of my undergraduate career. Finally, the vast resources for exploring medicine played a large role in my decision to attend CWRU.
Q: What’s your favorite memory of CWRU?
A: I am grateful to have had a wonderful undergraduate experience and will cherish the experiences and friends I’ve made here.
Q: As a graduating senior, what’s one thing you’d like to share with incoming freshman?
A: I would advise incoming freshmen to get involved in extracurriculars that they really enjoy and also to try new ones. I would also encourage them to seek mentors in their fields and learn as much as they can! There are truly endless opportunities to learn and develop your interests at this institution and especially in Cleveland.
