Mascot of a Spartan warrior gives the thumbs up in a parade carThank you to all alumni, students, families, faculty and staff who attended some or all of Homecoming 2020 at Case Western Reserve University. Starting with a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at The Dittrick Museum of Medical History on Thursday morning and concluding with the Latinx Alumni Association Membership Meeting on late Sunday afternoon, the university hosted 84 virtual alumni events with over 1,433 registered to attend.

On Friday, October 9, Dean Joy K. Ward spoke with several students from the College of Arts and Sciences during the Student Experience Panel program. Representing diverse majors and extracurricular interests, the students shared insights on academic and life lessons learned at the university, and what they hope to achieve with their College of Arts and Sciences education. Jessica Malone, a 2010 graduate of the College of Arts and Sciences and current member of The Alumni Association Board of Directors, moderated the discussion.

Later that day, Dean Ward recognized this year’s Distinguished Alumni Award Winners during the annual Pride of the College program and provided an update on the College’s recent successes and initiatives. Three professors from the College of Arts and Sciences shared information about their research: Hillel Chiel, professor of biology; Noël M. Voltz, assistant professor of African American history; and Maggie Popkin, Robson Junior Professor and associate professor of art history.
