Peter Whiting has returned to the college as interim dean following a year of leading the Division of Student Affairs. He has been a faculty member of the College of Arts and Sciences since 1991 where he’s a professor of environmental sciences within the Department of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences. He focuses his research on environmental geology and climate.

His appointment comes after it was announced that Lee A. Thompson has moved from the college’s interim dean role to become the deputy provost for academic strategic affairs under Provost Joy K. Ward.
