Executive aide to the dean Cynthia Stilwell retires after 25 years 

After more than 25 years, Cynthia Stilwell has retired from her position as executive aide to the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Stilwell was a steady force for seven interim and permanent deans, beginning with John Bassett in 1995 and concluding with Interim Dean Sandra Russ. Stilwell passed the proverbial baton to Robert Utrup, executive aide to the college’s new dean, Joy K. Distinguished University Professor Alan Rocke Receives International Honor

Alan Rocke, Distinguished University Professor and the Henry Eldridge Bourne Professor Emeritus in the Department of History, was named co-recipient of the Franklin-Lavoisier Prize. Co-sponsored by the Fondation de la Maison de la Chimie in Paris and the Science History Institute in Philadelphia, the award recognizes unusually meritorious efforts in the preservation or promotion of the entwined scientific heritage of France and the United States.

Tim Shuckerow, director of the Art Education/Art Studio programs in the Department of Art History and Art, is retiring in August after 32 years at the helm. He has actively recruited art education students from backgrounds underrepresented in the teaching profession. Works by African American alumni were featured in an exhibition honoring his legacy.
