Tim Shuckerow, director of the Art Education/Art Studio programs in the Department of Art History and Art, is retiring in August after 32 years at the helm. He has actively recruited art education students from backgrounds underrepresented in the teaching profession. Works by African American alumni were featured in an exhibition honoring his legacy.

Karen Potter (GRS ’89), professor and chair of the Department of Dance, has been honored with the 2020 John S. Diekhoff Award for Graduate Teaching. The award recognizes outstanding contributions to the education of graduate students through advising and classroom teaching.
After just three years at Case Western Reserve University, Andrea Milne, lecturer and SAGES teaching fellow, has received the J. Bruce Jackson, MD, Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Mentoring. Milne is a 20th century U.S. historian specializing in gender, sexuality and patient advocacy around stigmatized diseases, especially HIV/AIDS.
Kenneth Singer, the Ambrose Swasey Professor of Physics and Director of the Engineering Physics Program, is one of four CWRU professors this year to receive the Faculty Distinguished Research Award. The honor recognizes those whose groundbreaking research has made waves within engineering, medicine, physics and nursing.
